3D Scanning & Resin Printing Lead | Premium 3D SAS (Colombia)

Overview

As Premium 3D SAS evolved into a true smart 3D factory, we began collaborating with film and entertainment studios.
One of the most exciting projects was our work on “Juanpis González: The People’s President”, a Netflix film produced in Colombia.

Our role was to bring characters from the screen into the physical world through high-precision 3D scanning and resin miniatures, combining digital capture, industrial design and meticulous 3D printing.

Context

The production needed miniature versions of key characters with:

• high fidelity to the actors’ faces and body proportions.
• strong visual presence on camera.
• clean surfaces and sharp details.
• and reliable, repeatable production in a short timeframe.

Traditional sculpting or manual modeling would have been slow and less accurate.
We proposed a full 3D scanning → digital cleaning → resin printing pipeline.

My Role

At Premium 3D SAS, I led the end-to-end 3D process for this project:

• Coordinated and executed 3D scanning sessions for the actors.
• Cleaned and refined the scanned meshes for print-ready geometry.
• Adjusted proportions and details to work at miniature scale while preserving likeness.
• Selected and tuned industrial-grade resin for sharp detail and durability.
• Orchestrated the print preparation, orientation, and supports for optimal surface quality.
• Supervised post-processing: cleaning, curing and finishing the pieces.

I acted as the bridge between the production team’s creative vision and the technical constraints of 3D manufacturing.

Process Highlights

• Captured full-body and facial detail using 3D scanning to ensure likeness and expression.
• Retopologized and optimized the models for high-detail resin printing.
• Scaled and thickened fragile areas (fingers, facial features and thin props) to work reliably at miniature size.
• Printed the miniatures in high-resolution resin to achieve crisp edges and smooth surfaces for on-camera use.
• Iterated quickly with the production team to align creative expectations and physical constraints.

Impact

The result was a set of highly detailed, production-ready miniatures that:

• maintained strong resemblance to the original characters.
• photographed beautifully under studio lighting.
• and demonstrated how 3D technology can enhance storytelling in film.

This project positioned Premium 3D SAS as a reliable partner for film, TV, and creative industries, expanding our work beyond industrial and engineering sectors into entertainment and character work.
