3D Scanning, Industrial Design & 3D Printing Lead | Premium 3D SAS (Colombia)
Overview
As Premium 3D SAS grew into a smart 3D factory, we began supporting high-end audiovisual projects.
One of the most technically and emotionally intense collaborations was for “Medusa”, the Colombian thriller series on Netflix about a CEO who survives an assassination attempt and must rebuild her life and identity. Netflix+1
Our role was to design and fabricate a robotic finger prosthesis for the main character; a piece that had to look cinematic, feel believable, and work on set under real filming conditions.

Context
In the series, the protagonist suffers a violent attack that leaves her physically and emotionally marked.
The production needed a distinctive robotic finger prosthesis that:
- integrated naturally with the actress’s hand.
- looked like a piece of high-end tech from her world of power and wealth.
- held up under close-up shots.
- and allowed enough comfort and freedom for acting.
This wasn’t just a prop.
It had to be a visible symbol of trauma, survival and power.
My Role
At Premium 3D SAS, I led the full development of the prosthesis:
- Coordinated and executed 3D scanning of the actress’s hand to capture exact anatomy.
- Designed the robotic finger structure in CAD, balancing realism, aesthetics and practicality.
- Iterated on the form to ensure a comfortable fit and continuity with her natural hand.
- Selected resin materials suitable for high detail and on-set durability.
- Managed the 3D printing, post-processing, and test fittings with the production team.
I worked as the link between:
director + costume/art department + technical 3D manufacturing,
to make sure the finger looked powerful on screen and worked in the real world.
Process Highlights
- Used 3D scanning to match the geometry of the actress’s hand and wrist.
- Modeled the prosthetic finger with mechanical lines and subtle robotic aesthetics that fit the tone of the series.
- Adjusted proportions and joint zones for comfort, stability and camera presence.
- Printed in high-resolution resin to capture sharp edges, clean surfaces and metallic-style finishes once painted.
- Produced several versions for testing, movement and backup on set.
- Collaborated with the costume/makeup department to integrate the prosthesis seamlessly into the character’s look.
Impact
The final prosthesis:
- became a visual signature of the character.
- reinforced the themes of violence, transformation and control.
- held up beautifully in close-up shots.
- and demonstrated how 3D technology can serve not just utility, but storytelling.
This project expanded Premium 3D SAS work into character-driven design for film and series, proving our adaptability from industrial parts and engineering to emotional, cinematic objects.
